Guidelines & Guarantees
A totally flawless piece of glass is extremely rare. If you look close enough at any piece of glass you will almost certainly find a minor blemish.
The GGF has devised the following standards for both customer and the glazing company.
Ensure this is done in daylight but not in direct sunlight. Inside the house stand around 3 metres back from the glass. The area which you are checking is the whole window with the exception of a 50mm (approx. 2") wide band round the edge.
The glass is considered to be acceptable if the following are not obvious nor bunched together:-
Totally enclosed seeds, blisters, hairlines or blobs, fine scratches not more than 25mm (approx. 1") long and minute embedded particles.
UPVc windows and door frames are guaranteed against any failure in welding joints and distortion in accordance with the system suppliers recommended for a period of 10 years from the invoice date Glass sealed units are guaranteed for a period of 5 years from invoice date for the failure of hermetical seals (ie. misting between panes). This guarantee does not cover for the breakage of glass, internally or externally, in windows, doors or glass roof after the installation. Locking mechanisms, hinges and all metallic moving parts are guaranteed for 1 year, subject to regular maintenance by the customer. Cosmetic deterioration to handles, letter plates and door handles due to general wear & tear over time are not covered by this guarantee.
Composite doors are guaranteed from the date of invoice for a period of 5 years. With the exception of sprayed doors and products, which are covered for a period of 2 years. Any minor imperfections in UPVc or glass are subject to supplier’s recommendations, details of which are available upon request. Stained glass and lead work are not guaranteed against fading or discolouration.
UPVc products used in any installation are the closest colour match available from our suppliers at the present time. Door panels are guaranteed for a period of 12 months against warping or twisting.
All building work of any description will be guaranteed for a period of 12 months from commencement date in respect of workmanship. Conservatory roofing sheets of any description are not guaranteed against abnormal climate changes which may cause the structure of the material used to breakdown in some way. Nor the penetration of insects, misting and mould growth between the chamber of sheets. Any external trimmings are covered under 12 months under normal climate conditions.
If applicable to your installation, FENSA certifications will be received directly from FENSA around 6-8 weeks from completion. If your door is less than 50% glass, it will not be covered under FENSA. If the certificate is not received, please contact our office to arrange a copy. Any requests for a copy at a later date will be chargeable to the customer. Fascia and guttering work carry a 12 month guarantee. These should be periodically maintained and cleaned to prevent buildup of debris and potential blockages. Silicone finishing to prevent weathering at joints are covered for a period of 2 years. Localised shrinkage may be experienced due to the ageing process. Advice should be sought before attempting to attach fixtures and fittings to or around products supplied.
All guarantees are given in good faith. However, if it is deemed after a visit from the company representative that our product has been misused, tampered or damaged in anyway we will render the guarantee null and void. Leaving any remedial work to be carried out at a pre-arranged fee, payable prior to any work commencing. Any failure of materials under the terms of this guarantee will be repaired or replaced at R Stanley Windows & Doors Limited sole discretion.
This guarantee is non-transferable. All goods remain the property of the company until payment has been received in full, and has cleared the banking process. All doors are to be washed with warm soapy water.
All mechanical components are to be periodically maintained. Letterboxes are to be washed regularly to prevent corrosion (particularly in coastal areas)
